What Vinyl Wrap Actually Is

Vinyl wrap is a cast or calendered film applied directly over your factory paint. It changes the appearance of the car completely — or selectively, if you're doing a partial wrap — without touching the paint underneath.

The paint underneath stays protected while the wrap is on. When it's removed — professionally, not by pulling it off yourself — the original finish comes off intact, assuming the paint was in decent condition to start with.
Wrap is not paint. It sits on top of the surface rather than bonding chemically to it, which means it's reversible. It also means it requires different maintenance: no automatic washes, no pressure washing directly at the edges, pH-neutral soap.

In Florida's climate, quality matters more than elsewhere. UV exposure degrades cheaper films noticeably faster. Cast vinyl holds up significantly better than calendered in sustained sun — that's what I install.

Wrapping Options We Provide

  • Full Vehicle Wrap
A complete color change from bumper to bumper. Every exterior panel wrapped, edges tucked. This is the most time-intensive job — typically a full day, sometimes two for larger vehicles. The result is a finish that looks factory from a few feet away.
  • Partial Wrap
Specific panels or zones only — hood, roof, trunk, side skirts, or any combination. Popular for two-tone looks or when a client wants a change without committing to a full transformation.
  • Roof Wrap
One of the most requested accent jobs. A contrasting roof colour — matte black, gloss white, carbon fibre look — changes the character of a car significantly without a full wrap budget.
  • Chrome Delete
Replacing factory chrome trim with black, body-colour, or satin vinyl. Clean modern look, fully reversible. Works on grilles, window surrounds, door handles, mirror caps.
  • Hood & Bonnet Wrap
Accent or protective. Works well as a standalone job or combined with a roof wrap for a cohesive look.
  • Mirror Caps & Accent Panels
Smaller jobs, faster turnaround. Good entry point if you want to try a finish before committing to more coverage.

EXPECTATIONS

How Long Does a Vinyl Wrap Last?

A quality cast vinyl wrap installed correctly typically lasts 5 to 7 years. In Florida, UV exposure is the main factor that accelerates degradation — the same film that lasts 7 years in a cooler climate might run 5 to 6 here, depending on how much direct sun the car sees.

What extends wrap life:
  • Parking in shade or a garage when possible
  • Regular washes with pH-neutral soap
  • No automatic car washes, ever
  • Ceramic coating on top (adds UV resistance)
What shortens it:
  • Pressure washing at panel edges
  • Harsh detergents or solvent-based cleaners
  • Long-term sun exposure with no protection
IMPORTANT: for wrap jobs, clients need access to a clean enclosed space — a home garage, a rented bay, or covered parking that's sheltered from wind and dust. If you're not sure whether your setup works, just ask and I'll tell you honestly.

About Pricing

How Much a Car Wrap Cost in Tampa?

Wrap pricing depends on vehicle size, film type, and how much of the car is being covered. As a rough guide:
  • accent work (mirrors, roof, chrome delete): lower end, faster turnaround
  • partial wrap (hood, roof, specific panels): mid-range depending on coverage
  • full vehicle wrap: higher end; larger vehicles, complex curves, and premium films (colour-shift, specialty textures) push the price up.

We don't publish fixed rates because two vehicles of the same model can require different amounts of film and time depending on condition and panel complexity. Send us your vehicle details and what you have in mind — we'll give you a straight quote same day.
